If you are entering the Natural Competition, clothing suggestions are Baby Doll, Flower Girl, or Party Dress or Gown with only light embellishment, and may be off the rack or homemade. No highly embellished rhinestone dresses. Makeup should be very light and natural, such as very sheer blush, mineral powder and sheer lip gloss. No Flippers, No tanning, and No pageant falls or big pageant hair. If you have permanent extensions, the style should be natural looking. Casual or theme wear should not be stones. No Pro Am modeling. Natural contestants should go for the look of Baby Sweet, Pretty Princess or Lovely and Elegant and be age appropriate.

If you are entering the Glitz competition, clothing suggestions are Embellished Glitz pageant dresses or Gowns. Full hair, makeup and enhancements are allowed in a total package competition. Casual wear, theme wear and outfits of choice may be embellished custom with routines and Pro Am modeling where applicable. Tanning may not be done in our dressing room, and must be done in your rented rooms. This is your time to sparkle.

Props

Props are allowed in both Glitz and Natural format where applicable. However, props should be easy to take on and off the stage without holding up the timing and flow of the competition. Ideally contestants should be able to enter and exit the stage with their props if used, or have a parent assist with the props. Young Miss Pageants Staff will not assist with the set up or removal of props. Contestants may not toss or throw anything on the stage or to the judges. This means no glitter, confetti, candy or gifts tossed to the judges. Glitter or confetti can cause distraction or even potential injury to other contestants, so it is not allowed to be tossed or sprinkled on the stage floor.

Tanning is allowed ONLY in the Glitz Pageant competition.

PAGEANT INTERVIEW GUIDELINES

Young Miss Pageant competitions include an up close appraisal/interview, with a focus on personal appearance, personality and responsiveness to the questions. Age appropriate questions will be asked of contestants old enough to answer. Question topics are based on the bios that are submitted with the contestant’s entry. Suggested attire for interview will include a smart casual outfit, or dress for younger contestants and age appropriate interview dresses and suits for older contestants. Clothing may include your choices of shoes or accessories. Sparkling personality, poise and confidence are what our judges look for.

SAFETY AND SPORTSMANSHIP RULES

Contestants may not speak to the judges during the competition, except during the interview. Parents may not speak to the judges before or during the competition, however, may speak to the judges after crowning; and such conversations must be conducted in a positive and constructive manner. Judges decisions are final and therefore, the judges may not be challenged. Score sheets and master sheets will be made available for contestants.

For the safety and comfort of all of our contestants, their families and guests, behavior that is not in the spirit of an elegant pageant competition and good sportsmanship is prohibited. This includes inappropriate suggestive behavior, theft, malicious gossip, offensive language, hostile behavior toward any member of the Young Miss Pageants Staff or any pageant contestant, their families or any event attendee. Young Miss Pageants reserves the right to disqualify a contestant or call for the relinquishment of a title if it is believed to be for the safety of contestants and in the best interest of the pageant organization. Items of any kind may not be handed to contestant’s during the pageant competition. This includes gifts, toys, food, candy or any other item that may either be of a distraction to a contestant or cause soil to the contestant or their clothing. Contestant’s giving gifts to other contestant’s, may do so only after the competition has ended. Candy or other edible gifts may only be offered with the child’s parent or guardian’s permission.

Tickets/Passes

Tickets to Young Miss Pageants events are $15 each. A weekend pass can be purchased for $23 which allows entry into any two day pageant hosted by Young Miss Pageants. Each contestant will receive one free chaperone pass. Children under 5 years old can be admitted to the event free if accompanied by an adult with a pass. Contestants will be admitted to the ballroom free at all times throughout the day. All others, including parents and family members will receive a pass and must wear this pass to enter the ballroom. We prefer to rent ballrooms and banquet halls instead of competing in malls so that our contestants, the audience and our staff feel safe. By performing in ballrooms and banquet halls we are able to control who is watching our children. This is why there is an admission fee to watch our pageants; it helps with the costly rental of the ballroom. Ticket sales are allowed up to the day of the event and will also be available at the door. Contestants will be given a form to keep track of ticket sales and must turn this form in before the pageant so names & passes will be available at the door.

VENDORS

Vendors are welcome. Please make arrangements with the Pageant Director in advance of the pageant to be added to the vendor list on the website, or if ballroom or dressing room space is needed to sell products or offer services. We are happy to accommodate you on a first come first serve basis as space is limited.

Contestants and their families will not hold Young Miss Pageants liable for injury, loss or damage of personal property. Your entry form signature or online entry submission indicates that you have read and accept the information and requirements provided.
